The Simcoe County Ham Radio Emergency Communications group has been formed to support all of Simcoe County in the event of an emergency or series of emergencies. Our prime focus is to ensure that agencies involved in supporting emergency relief have the communications they require whether or not their primary communications are working. Coordination of volunteers will be done primarily on VE3LSR-A (146.85-) and as a backup VE3ORR (147.21+) If you become aware of an emergency in the county please turn on a radio to one of these repeaters and monitor for instructions. If amateur radio services are required, a net will be set up to organize volunteers.
At this time, if a need is identified for amateurs, the county Emergency Coordinator will contact Bob, VE3ODR, Chuck, VA3SD or Jason VE3YCA to attend the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) as a liason with the amateur community. Subsequently volunteers will be requested to perform the necessary functions.
