The Lake Simcoe Repeater Association is pleased to announce the commissioning of their first 220 Mhz analog FM repeater. It is an experimental system located at Edgar ON.
VE3LSR 220 can be found at: 224.900- Mhz. 220 has been referred to by some as the magic band. It has the quiet aspects of UHF, but it has the coverage aspects of 2M.
We are interested in hearing your signal reports. We are experiencing some issues with the dual bay antenna - it has an SWR issue and the antenna is only up 100 feet / 30 meters. We are awaiting resources to get the SWR issue addressed. We will advise when it is rectified. We have no plans at this time to raise the antenna.
The repeater is a Bridgecom BCR-220 unit running about 30 watts. It is connected to the larger LSR repeater VOIP framework, but we have not enabled crossover connectivity to the other systems at the Edgar site. We have done some preliminary tests and despite some challenging antenna condtions, we have been pleased with the coverage patterns we have recorded.
Please have a look around on this and other systems active at VE3LSR. We hope to hear you on one of our system. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Welcome to LSR 220.
